Frequently Asked Questions

Explore answers to common questions about CloudCopy.me below.

How do I start syncing my files?

+

To start syncing your files with CloudCopy.me, first log into your account and navigate to the Dashboard. From there, you’ll see the "Set Up Your Sync" section. Choose your source cloud service (like Google Drive or Dropbox) by clicking "Connect" and authenticating with your credentials. Next, select the folder you want to sync from by clicking "Select Folder"—this uses the cloud’s native file picker for ease. Repeat the process for your destination cloud service, picking where your files will go. Adjust the sync settings if needed (e.g., overwrite options or creating a destination folder), then hit "Start Sync" to begin. You’ll see the progress in the "Recent Syncs" table below. It’s that simple—just a few clicks to get your files moving!

Which cloud services are supported?

+

CloudCopy.me supports a wide range of popular cloud services to ensure flexibility for all users. Out of the box, you can connect to Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive (both personal and business versions), Mega.nz, and Box, among others. These are the most commonly used options, and you’ll see them listed prominently in the Dashboard. For more advanced users, we also support services like Amazon S3, Backblaze B2, NextCloud, and even FTP/SFTP servers—check the "More Clouds" section when setting up a sync. We’re always adding new integrations based on user feedback, so if your favorite service isn’t listed yet, let us know via the contact form above, and we’ll work on it!

Can I sync files automatically?

+

Yes, automatic syncing is available, but it’s a feature exclusive to our paid plans (Starter and Pro). With the free tier, you’re limited to one-time manual syncs, which you initiate from the Dashboard. Once you upgrade, you can enable scheduling in the sync settings. This lets you set syncs to run automatically at intervals like daily, weekly, or even hourly—perfect for keeping your clouds in sync without lifting a finger. For the Pro plan, you also get real-time syncing, where changes in your source folder are mirrored to the destination almost instantly. To set this up, just choose your schedule or real-time option when configuring a sync task. It’s a huge time-saver for regular backups or team workflows!

Can I use CloudCopy.me without linking a credit card during signup?

+

Absolutely! At CloudCopy.me, we want you to explore our service risk-free, so you don’t need to link a credit card to sign up or use the Free tier. Just register with your email and a password, and you’ll get instant access to the Dashboard with 10GB/month of transfer capacity. Even during our 14-day free trial of paid features (like unlimited transfers or scheduling), no payment details are required upfront—we trust you’ll love the service enough to upgrade later! If you do decide to go for a paid plan, you’ll add your payment method then, but until that point, you can enjoy syncing your clouds without any financial commitment.

Does CloudCopy.me support single sign-on (SSO) with my existing work accounts?

+

Currently, CloudCopy.me doesn’t offer native single sign-on (SSO) support for the Free, Starter, or Pro plans, meaning you’ll log in with a dedicated email and password. However, for our Team plan customers, we can enable SSO integration with popular identity providers like Google Workspace, Microsoft Azure AD, or Okta upon request. This feature is designed for businesses needing seamless authentication across their tools. If you’re on a personal plan and want SSO, you’d need to upgrade to the Team tier and contact us to set it up—our support team will guide you through integrating it with your work accounts for a smooth login experience.

How do I delete my CloudCopy.me account if I no longer need it?

+

If you decide CloudCopy.me isn’t for you anymore, reach out via the contact form above and it will be removed before 24 hours.

Can I pause a sync in progress and resume it later?

+

Yes, pausing a sync is possible with CloudCopy.me, giving you control over long-running tasks. In the "Recent Syncs" table on your Dashboard, active syncs will show a "Pause" button next to their status. Clicking it halts the process, saving the current progress on our servers. When you’re ready to continue, just hit "Resume" on the same sync entry, and it’ll pick up right where it left off—no need to restart from scratch. This is especially handy for large transfers if you need to free up bandwidth or pause during peak usage times. Note that paused syncs don’t count against your concurrent sync limit, so you can start another task in the meantime if your plan allows it!

Does CloudCopy.me allow me to exclude certain file types from syncing?

+

At the moment, our Free tier doesn’t support excluding specific file types—it syncs everything in the selected folder. However, with the Starter and Pro plans, you can customize your syncs by adding filters. In the sync settings, look for the "Advanced Options" section (available on paid plans), where you can enter file extensions to skip, like `.tmp`, `.bak`, or `.log`. For example, if you don’t want temporary files clogging your destination cloud, just list them there, and CloudCopy.me will ignore them during the transfer. This feature uses rclone’s powerful filtering under the hood, so you can get as granular as you need—perfect for keeping your syncs lean and efficient. If this is a must-have, consider upgrading to unlock it!

Can I set different sync settings for each cloud service I connect?

+

Yes, CloudCopy.me lets you tailor sync settings for each cloud pair you set up, offering flexibility for different use cases. When you configure a sync task in the Dashboard, the settings—like "Skip Existing" vs. "Overwrite Existing," or enabling "Create Destination Folder"—apply only to that specific source-to-destination combination. For instance, you could have Google Drive to Dropbox skip existing files for a backup, while OneDrive to Mega.nz overwrites them for a mirror. Each sync task is independent, so you can mix and match settings without affecting others. This customization is available across all plans, though advanced options like scheduling or file filters require a paid tier. It’s all about giving you control over how your clouds work together!

What happens if my internet connection drops during a sync?

+

If your internet drops mid-sync, don’t worry—CloudCopy.me is built to handle interruptions gracefully. Since syncing happens on our servers (not your local device), your connection loss won’t derail the process entirely. The sync will pause automatically when it detects a timeout or failure to transfer data. Once your internet is back, the system retries the sync from the last successful file, ensuring no data is duplicated or lost. You’ll see the status update to "Paused" or "Failed" in the "Recent Syncs" table, and you can manually resume it by clicking "Retry" if needed. For large syncs, we recommend a stable connection, but even if things go offline, your files are safe with us until you’re back online!

Does CloudCopy.me work with cloud services like iCloud or OneDrive?

+

Yes, CloudCopy.me supports Microsoft OneDrive right out of the gate—both personal and business versions are available in the Dashboard under the cloud options. You can connect it easily and sync to or from it like any other service. As for iCloud, we don’t currently offer direct integration due to Apple’s API restrictions, but we’re exploring workarounds and might add it in the future based on demand. For now, you can sync with OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, Mega.nz, Box, and many others—over 20 services in total! If iCloud is a must-have for you, let us know via the contact form, and we’ll prioritize it. Meanwhile, OneDrive works seamlessly for Microsoft ecosystem users.

How secure is my data?

+

Your data’s security is a top priority at CloudCopy.me. When you sync files, they’re transferred between clouds using end-to-end encryption with industry-standard protocols like TLS 1.3—think of it as a secure tunnel no one can peek into. We don’t store your files permanently on our servers; they’re only held temporarily during the sync process and then deleted. Your cloud credentials are also encrypted and stored securely, accessible only when you authorize a sync. We comply with GDPR and other privacy regulations, so your personal info stays private. Plus, features like "Dry Run" let you test syncs without risking data. Rest easy—your files are as safe with us as they are in your own clouds!

What if I exceed my plan’s sync limit?

+

If you hit your plan’s sync limit—say, 10GB/month on the Free tier or 100GB/month on Starter—CloudCopy.me won’t just cut you off. You’ll get an email and a Dashboard notification warning you’re nearing or at your cap. Any active syncs will finish, but new ones won’t start until the next billing cycle resets your allowance (e.g., the 1st of each month). Alternatively, you can upgrade to a higher plan—like Pro with unlimited transfers—right from the Pricing page, and your limit lifts instantly. If a sync fails mid-way due to the limit, it’ll pause, and you can resume it once you’ve got more capacity. We’ll keep you in the loop so you’re never caught off guard!

How do I cancel my subscription?

+

Canceling your CloudCopy.me subscription is hassle-free. Log into your account and click "Profile" in the navigation menu. Under the "Billing" tab, you’ll see your current plan details and a "Cancel Subscription" button. Click it, and you’ll be asked to confirm—enter your password to verify it’s you. Once canceled, you’ll keep access to paid features until the end of your billing cycle, then revert to the Free tier with its 10GB/month limit. No partial refunds are issued, but you can downgrade anytime. If you run into issues or just want a human to help, use the contact form above—our support team is here 24/7 to walk you through it!

Can I use CloudCopy.me on my mobile device, or is it desktop-only?

+

CloudCopy.me is primarily designed as a web-based service, optimized for desktop browsers like Chrome, Firefox, or Safari, where most users manage their cloud syncing. That said, our site is fully responsive, so you can access it on your mobile device—iPhone, Android, or tablet—through your browser. You’ll get the same Dashboard, sync setup, and history views, just scaled down for smaller screens. There’s no dedicated mobile app yet, but the web interface works smoothly on the go: connect clouds, start syncs, or check statuses anytime, anywhere. If a native app is something you’d love, drop us a note via the contact form—we’re always listening to user feedback for future updates!

Is there an option to sync files from an external hard drive to a cloud via CloudCopy.me?

+

CloudCopy.me is built for cloud-to-cloud syncing, so direct syncing from an external hard drive isn’t supported natively—our focus is on moving files between services like Google Drive and Dropbox. However, there’s a workaround: first, upload your files from the external drive to one of your connected clouds using that service’s own desktop app or web interface (e.g., Google Drive’s Backup and Sync). Once they’re in the cloud, you can use CloudCopy.me to sync them to another cloud destination. We’re exploring local-to-cloud options for future releases, possibly with a desktop client, but for now, this two-step process gets the job done. Let us know if this is a feature you’d prioritize!

How does CloudCopy.me handle syncing very large numbers of small files?

+

Syncing tons of small files—like thousands of tiny documents or photos—can be tricky, but CloudCopy.me handles it efficiently thanks to our rclone-powered backend. Unlike syncing one big file, lots of small ones take more time due to metadata handling and API calls. We optimize this by batching transfers and parallelizing requests where possible, so your sync finishes faster than a one-by-one approach. On the Free tier, you might notice slower speeds with high file counts due to the single concurrent sync limit, but upgrading to Starter (2 syncs) or Pro (unlimited) speeds things up significantly. Expect smooth performance even with 10,000+ files—just keep an eye on your monthly transfer cap!

Is there a bandwidth limit for how much data I can sync per day?

+

CloudCopy.me doesn’t impose a strict daily bandwidth limit, but your total data transfer is capped monthly based on your plan: 10GB for Free, 100GB for Starter, and unlimited for Pro and Team. You could technically sync your entire monthly allowance in one day if you wanted—say, 10GB in a single go on the Free tier—as long as you don’t exceed the month’s total. There’s no throttling on our end; your speed depends on your internet connection and the cloud services’ API limits. For heavy daily use, the Pro plan’s unlimited transfer is your best bet, ensuring you never hit a wall no matter how much you sync!

Can I prioritize certain sync tasks over others?

+

Right now, CloudCopy.me processes sync tasks in the order they’re started, with no built-in way to manually prioritize one over another on the Free or Starter plans. Each task runs independently, and if you’re at your concurrent sync limit (1 for Free, 2 for Starter), new tasks queue up and wait their turn. However, with the Pro plan’s unlimited concurrent syncs, you can effectively prioritize by starting your most urgent tasks first—they’ll all run simultaneously without waiting. We’re considering a drag-and-drop queue feature for future updates, letting you reorder tasks directly in the Dashboard. Until then, plan your syncs strategically or upgrade to Pro for maximum flexibility!

Can I export a log of my sync activities for record-keeping?

+

You can definitely keep tabs on your sync history with CloudCopy.me. In the "Recent Syncs" table on your Dashboard, every task shows its source, destination, status, and timestamp—great for a quick overview. For a detailed log, paid plan users (Starter, Pro, Team) can click "Details" on any sync to see a full breakdown: files transferred, sizes, times, and any errors. From there, hit "Export Log" to download it as a CSV or PDF file, perfect for record-keeping or audits. Free tier users can see the table but can’t export logs yet—another perk of upgrading! It’s all about giving you transparency and control over your syncing activity.
